FMCSA Begins Testing New Safety Oversight Process
Comprehensive Safety Analysis-2010, a new safety oversight process, places increased emphasis on safety data collected during roadside inspections, with the results triggering a series of escalating enforcement actions designed to correct a motor carrier’s specific safety deficiency. The new process is being tested for 30 months in Colorado, Georgia, Missouri and New Jersey. The results of the four-state test will be compared to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) existing enforcement regime to determine the program’s effectiveness in reducing commercial vehicle-related crash fatalities |
