Sweepstakes Winner Haley: An IdleAire Believer Even Before Winning
Not surprisingly, Scott Haley, the grand prize winner of IdleAire’s “Hook Up for a Pickup” sweepstakes, is a huge IdleAire fan. And that was even before he received the $20,000 cash prize (chosen in lieu of the Ford truck). “It’s (IdleAire) a big benefit,” Haley said during his visit to IdleAire’s headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee. “Besides pay and health insurance, IdleAire and satellite radio are the best benefits available.” And, that’s coming from a man who has driven big trucks all his life, starting with the five trucks owned by his grandfather and father that were used to haul logs and heavy equipment in Oregon. Now he drives for Carlen Transport, which pays for IdleAire services as an added benefit for their drivers. “My truck is outfitted with a TV, microwave and fridge, so IdleAire turns it into a mini apartment,” said Haley. “And I’ve got a block heater that I plug up to IdleAire when it gets below 0 degrees. “I love your service. I’m a football (Buffalo Bills) and NASCAR (Tony Stewart) fan, so I try to time my 34-hour resets for the weekends so I can watch either NFL or NASCAR.” In fact, Haley was at IdleAire in Nashville, which is within sight of the Tennessee Titans’ stadium, when he realized his beloved Bills were playing the Titans in Nashville that weekend. He went online but could only find tickets in pairs, so he purchased two tickets and then went to the IdleAire equipment building to see if there were any Titan fans about. “They told me that Melissa Gaines, an IdleAire site representative, was a huge Titan fan but she had never been to one of their games. And she wasn’t scheduled to come in for her shift until later. They called her, she met me at the site and we went to the game. We had a blast and she got back in time for her shift. “The people on the (IdleAire) lots all over are very nice. They are outstanding people wherever we go,” said Haley. |
